This advanced 3-day course builds upon the midPoint learning pathway to tackle complex identity scenarios.
Learn how to effectively configure midPoint to handle various identity relationships common in academic institutions. Through hands-on exercises and real-world examples, you’ll learn techniques for managing concurrent roles, implementing grace periods, and orchestrating smooth identity transitions while maintaining appropriate access levels and security controls.

Learning Objectives
- Manage multiple user identities coming from different sources to midPoint.
- Incorporate custom attributes specified by the eduPerson schema (i.e., eduPersonAffiliation).
- Build a single user profile using attributes coming from different sources.
- Handle complex lifecycle changes that are common for higher education.
- Design robust solutions to control multiple and shifting affiliations per person automatically.
- Increase your overall knowledge about midPoint.
What To Expect
- Virtual live class with an instructor
- 1 hour of assigned pre-work to prepare the training environment — Details will be communicated 1 week prior to the training.
- 3 days full of lectures, lab exercises, and discussions
Pre-Requisites
Completion of First Steps, Group Synchronization, and Intermediate midPoint training courses (see Evolveum website for training opportunities (opens in a new window)) or existing equivalent midPoint knowledge, including:
- Synchronization, provisioning, and management of user accounts and groups to/from midPoint
- Using simulations to safely test new configurations
- Using tasks to automate synchronization processes
- Understanding of application roles, business roles, and basic principles of role engineering
- Using MidPoint Studio to manage the midPoint configuration through XML files

Payment, Cancellation, and Refund Policy
All cancellations received on or before 11:59 p.m. ET on April 22, 2025, are entitled to a full conference refund less a $50 administrative fee. There will be no refunds after this date. If you cancel after 11:59 p.m. ET on April 22, 2025, and have not paid by any other means, your credit card will be charged the cost of the registration fee. If you cancel your registration after 11:59 p.m. ET on April 22, 2025, you may name another person from your organization to take your place for meetings that allow transferred registrations. To cancel, transfer, or make changes to your registration, please contact meetingregistration@internet2.edu. Thank you.
Course Cancellation Policy for Participants: In the event that a course does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the course. Participants will be notified approximately 10 days before the course start date if minimum enrollments have not been met. In such cases, participants will have the choice to either receive a full refund or utilize their payment as credit towards a future course (for the same software component or a different one) within the same calendar year. We understand the inconvenience caused and aim to provide suitable alternatives or refunds promptly.
