The InCommon Community and Trust Assurance Board (CTAB) seeks volunteers to participate in the Sirtfi Exercise Planning Working Group (SEPWG) to help design and run the annual distributed tabletop exercise. With the success of the last three years’ cybersecurity cooperation exercises, InCommon is continuing to offer opportunities for practicing cybersecurity coordination using the Security Incident Response Trust Framework for Federated Identity (Sirtfi).
The goal is to help federation participants familiarize themselves with security incident response procedures in federated scenarios. We seek a broad spectrum of the international research and education (R&E) community to join the SEPWG to offer points of view from people and organizations with different responsibilities for and perspectives on security in research and education. (Sign up to participate by completing the interest form.)
Those who sign-up will get experience in scenario design and conducting tabletop exercises that they can also take back to their own organizations. Meetings will be held biweekly in the early parts of the year, but become weekly when needed during key time frames leading up to and during the exercise events. By spring 2025, the working group will develop a detailed plan for the tabletop cooperative cybersecurity exercise to be conducted in November 2025.
To participate in the working group, complete the interest form by Friday, January 31, 2025. We will poll those who respond to find a suitable meeting time for a kickoff meeting in mid February, 2025. Learn more about previous exercises that brought security and identity together, and get involved in the planning process for the next one!
