InCommon Academy is kicking off the training season early with a summer session of Grouper school.
You can now get a head start on your Grouper training ahead of the fall semester. This virtual Grouper training will run Aug. 19-22, and interested participants can sign up for the course now.
The summer training session — which will be followed by a second Grouper class later in the fall — was added to the InCommon Academy training schedule to meet demand from the research and higher education (R&E) community.

Register TodayGrouper training from InCommon Academy teaches participants how to use the software’s core features. Training modules include Grouper basics and advanced features, as well as access governance, security models, and administrative principles. The curriculum further includes real-world use cases.
One Spring 2024 Grouper school participant said the most valuable aspects of the training include “getting to try out core concepts like hierarchies, loader jobs, provisioning, and [learning] how to maximize efficiency by abstracting things out.”
Returning to lead the Grouper school session this summer are Chris Hyzer, an application architect at the University of Pennsylvania, and Chad Redman, IAM consultant at Unicon. Hyzer has worked on Grouper for more than a decade and is the Grouper lead at Internet2 and InCommon, and Redman has been a Grouper developer for more than six years.
Grouper continues to be one of the most utilized group and access management systems, particularly by R&E institutions. As more institutions develop IAM capabiities with Grouper, InCommon Academy has seen the demand for Grouper training similarly increase.
