Curriculum Outline
COmanage Registry: Managing Identities & Collaborations Workshop
March 28-29, 2023
There are two types of resources for the COmanage Registry Workshop: Managing Identities & Collaborations Workshop:
- MODULES – These resources are provided to help you understand the concepts introduced in the workshop sections.
- WORKBOOK EXERCISES – This is where you will try what you’ve learned and build your intuition for configuring Registry!
This workshop is offered in a “flipped-classroom” structure. Learners will be expected to review the modules (lectures) as pre-work prior to our class meeting times. The modules are offered as video lectures paired with written materials. (You choose which works best for you!) We will use our time together for hands-on work, discussion, and exploration of your specific use cases.
There are eight sections in this workshop as outlined below.

- Installing COmanage Registry using the InCommon Docker images
- HANDS ON WORK: Prepare your training environment
Day 1
- Modeling people in COmanage Registry (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Registry configuration; creating COs
- Connect external sources to Registry
- Modeling organizational structures in COmanage Registry (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Modeling enterprise use
- Modeling a guest registry
- Modeling a research collaboration
- Identifiers and Authenticators (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Creating collaboration-wide identifiers
- Automatic generation of identifiers
Day 2
- Enrollment Workflows (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Invite a collaborator
- Invite a guest
- Add a role for a person
- Provisioning (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Provision to LDAP
- Provision to Amazon SNS
- Provision to a campus database
- Offboarding (pre-work)
DISCUSSION & HANDS ON WORK- Offboarding patterns
After completing the COmanage Registry workshop, 75% of attendees felt that they could confidently use COmanage for production.

COmanage Match Workshop: Solution for Identifying Unique Records Across Multiple Systems of Record
March 30, 2023
There are two types of resources for the COmanage Match Workshop: Solution for Identifying Unique Records Across Multiple Systems of Record:
- MODULES – These resources are provided to help you understand the concepts introduced in the workshop sections.
- WORKBOOK EXERCISES – This is where you will try what you’ve learned and build your intuition for configuring Match!
There are six sections in this course:
- Getting to know COmanage Match – a basic introduction to COmanage Match
- Understanding Systems of Record in Match – reviews how to link sources that contain records you want to compare using Match
- Match Attributes – establish what attributes (fields) about the data subject you are going to use to determine matches
- Developing Match Rules – learn how to configure match rules to identify either exact (canonical) or potential matches
- Building Test Sets – learn how to build test sets and use them to evaluate how your match rules will perform
- Resolving Potential Matches – the lesson will describe resolving potential matches in the COmanage Match interface and elsewhere
